About the event

We cordially invite applications from academicians passionate about shaping the future of technology education through a humanistic lens. In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, where technology permeates every aspect of our lives, it is crucial to consider the ethical implications of technological advancements. In response to this imperative, the National Workshop on "Educating Ethical Technologists: Humanistic Perspectives in the AI Era" aligns with the goals of the Mozilla Responsible Computing Challenge. Mozilla RCC underscores the significance of this consideration, emphasising that those creating new technologies wield tremendous power. These technologies influence everything around us. While many of these technologies have facilitated new forms of connection and creativity, the benefits and harms of these technologies have not been distributed equally. This workshop serves as a vital platform for the seamless integration of ethics into technology education and curricula, addressing the ethical dilemmas posed by emerging technologies in the AI era. It aims to empower a new wave of graduating technologists with holistic thinking, fuelling an industry-wide culture shift.

We seek to convene 20 selected educators who are enthusiastic about contributing their insights and expertise to this collaborative effort by designing forward-thinking curricula under the mentorship of expert speakers. Participants will delve into the fusion of pedagogical and andragogical approaches to English language teaching, the potential of AI, and ethical considerations in technology education. Through interactive discussions and collaborative activities, participants will delve into the intersection of ethics and technology, exploring these approaches to nurture a new generation of ethical technologists equipped to navigate the complexities of the digital age.

By supporting the conceptualisation, development, and piloting of curricula that empower students to think about the social and political context of computing, this workshop contributes to shaping a future where technology is developed with greater consideration for its broader societal impacts.
